Minnesota Coalition for Battered Women (MCBW) is a statewide organization of local, regional, and statewide programs advocating on behalf of battered women and their children. MCBW works to end oppression based on gender, race, age, affectional orientation, class, and disability. The specific work of MCBW involves changing systems and institutions so that they can respond more effectively. MCBW works to empower organizations that serve victims of domestic abuse. MCBW provides widespread networking opportunities for organizations that serve battered women and is the statewide voice on behalf on battered women and provides leadership on a regional, statewide, and national level. The Minnesota Coalition Against Sexual Assault (MNCASA) is a coalition of sexual assault programs committed to ending sexual violence. To that end, the coalition provides technical assistance and support to member programs throughout the state of Minnesota. This includes ongoing training and education, development and distribution of educational materials, GLBT and communities of color outreach, and public policy initiatives. The National Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NCADV) is a national organization; who’s work includes coalition building at the local, state, regional and national levels; support for the provision of community-based, non-violent alternatives - such as safe home and shelter programs - for battered women and their children; public education and technical assistance; policy development and innovative legislation; focus on the leadership of NCADV’s caucuses and task forces developed to represent the concerns of organizationally under represented groups; and efforts to eradicate social conditions which contribute to violence against women and children.
