“Eastern Eden”
Matt and Lori Feurhelm
927 East Broadway St
The serpentine edging along the
perennial border leads your eyes to the
Vietnamese fired pot! This bed includes
delphiniums, lilies, fire witch dianthus,
everlasting hydrangea and a William
Baffin rose bush. The alley garden is
graced with peonies, coral reef poppies,
baptisia, purple allium and cerastium. In
the shade of the majestic conifer
discover the hostas and a small water
pond with goldfish.
“Blufftop Bliss”
Scott and Debbie Birdsall
292 East Garvin Heights Rd
Perched on the edge of the bluffs on the
southern side of the Mississippi gorge is
the Prairie style home of Scott and Deb
Birdsall. The house is surrounded by
a meandering path and a large waterfall
that cascades to a pond below. Beautiful
roses, weeping spruces, a Japanese
maple, perennials and grasses grace the
pathways. Breathtaking views overlook
the expansive valley below. Hidden
among the oak trees is the timber
frame, sod roofed garden shed and
playhouse. The house nestles back into
the bluff and fits naturally in with the
environment, surrounded by aspen,
“Dody’s Container Garden”
Dody and Lee Huwald
809 West Burns Valley Rd
Dody is passionate about her container
garden! Her potted creations are mostly
started under lights from seeds at her
headquarters in the basement. Roses,
elephant ears, hostas, salvia artemis,
pansies, ivys, Princess of India nasturiums,
and Pee Gee hydrenga are used in her
colorful potted creations, all vibrant and a
sight to behold. Dody will be giving
demonstrations of arranging potted plants.
“Memory Garden”
Karen Resch
337 Knopp Valley Dr
As you come through the arbor into the
backyard you enter a secluded park-like
setting with large shade trees, a garden tier
and a pond with gently flowing water. It
makes the perfect setting for a garden party
and Karen likes to stage it for such! This
garden is a place of nostalgia with many of
the plants reminding Karen of those her
grandmother had, such as; clematis,
hydrangea, hollyhocks, peonies, lilies,
bleeding heart, phlox, hosta, coneflowers,
iris, redbud, and coral bells. Nostalgia is
also carried out to the front porch with a
hodge podge of vintage finds and another
cascading pond in the landscaping.

garden, and a water/bog garden.

the front yard you can take a stroll down along the

annuals and biennials gets better every year!
